Return Unwanted Medicines

The Return Unwanted Medicines (RUM) Project is a national scheme that allows community pharmacies (us) to collect unwanted and out-of-date medicines from consumers (you).

Expired or unused medicines can be a danger, especially for children and pets, if left at home. Aged consumers can become confused with many medications which can lead to “medication mismanagement”, often needing hospital care.

Medicines which are disposed of inappropriately such as down the sink or toilet, or in rubbish bins can lead to poor environmental consequences.

If you have any unwanted or expired medicines at home, place them in a bag and bring them to us. We will put them in a special yellow container and have them sent away to be disposed of by high temperature incineration.

This service is free of charge.
